Columbine Memorial Fund Selling Paper Flowers at Various Metro Area Restaurants; Starbucks toDonate $3 from sale of special Starbucks® Community Blend whole bean coffee

April 10, 2006

DENVER, CO - The Columbine Memorial Committee is pleased with the efforts to grow community and corporate support for the final phase of fundraising efforts to help fund the creation of a permanent, public memorial to honor and remember the victims of the April 20, 1999, shootings at Columbine High School. A dedicated group of community members have been working on the project for more than six years and is now only $450,000 away from the goal of raising $1.5 million in funds and in-kind services.

During the month of April, several local area businesses will sell an “I Helped Build the Columbine Memorial” paper columbine flower for $1 each. The paper columbines can be purchased at Fat City, Denver metro Q’doba restaurants, select Dairy Queen restaurants, Wild Oats at Kipling & Simms, Maverick Press, Front Range Bank and various other locations. For a complete list of area businesses participating in the paper columbine sales, visit the Columbine Memorial website at www.columbinememorial.org.

Additionally, Starbucks stores in Colorado will offer a special “Community Blend” coffee to raise awareness. And from April 8 through May 15, 2006, $3 from the sale of each pound of Starbucks® Community Blend will be donated to the Columbine Memorial Fund to help it reach it fundraising goal of $1.5 million. The Starbucks® Community Blend is a complex, approachable blend of coffees from Latin America and Africa. It offers medium-bodied balance, crisp acidity and citrus flavor with subtle floral notes, paying homage to the columbine flower.

Another way to get involved and show support of the Columbine Memorial Fund is by purchasing and wearing the special Columbine Memorial pin designed by the parents of Kelly Fleming. These beautiful pins can be viewed at www.columbinememorial.org and are available for a limited time only for $13 per pin (plus $3 shipping & handling). Pins can be purchased by sending requests and check or money order to Columbine Memorial Fund, 11757 West Ken Caryl Ave, #F-532, Littleton, CO 80127.

The prestigious Columbine Country Club will be the site of the Columbine Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, May 8, 2006. This is a terrific opportunity to golf at one of the area's most exclusive country clubs and support the fundraising efforts for the Memorial. Many corporate sponsorship opportunities are available, and golfer registration is open to the public at $250 per golfer. Sponsor information and golf entry forms are available for download on the Events Page at www.columbinememorial.org/events.asp. Registrations must be received prior to April 28, 2006.
